About Lisa LaClair

Lisa LaClair author portrait

Emotionally rich historical romance

Lisa LaClair writes emotionally rich historical romance filled with spirited heroines, complicated gentlemen, and the quiet moments that change lives forever. Her stories explore love, identity, faith, and the tension between duty and desire, often set against the rolling countryside and glittering ballrooms of Regency England.

A San Diego native now living in Delaware, Lisa spends much of her time restoring the historic home she shares with her husband, their two children, a Goldendoodle, a cat, and two mischievous mini lop bunnies. She loves reading, studying history, restoring antique furniture, and traveling the world with her family.

While Lisa adores exploring the historical richness of the East Coast during family vacations, her children remain somewhat less enthusiastic about battlefield tours and old manor homes.

A Good Lord is her debut novel and the first book in the Eden Manor series.

The Books

The Eden Manor Series

Eden Manor is more than a house. It is a world of orchards and harvest, of faith and labour and slow-turning seasons — and the place where every story in this series begins. The Eden Manor series follows the loves and lives of those drawn into its orbit, one book at a time.

A Good Lord

She dreamed of London society. He was never meant to become her home.

Lucinda Middleton has spent her life longing for something grander than the rolling hills of Shropshire. While her family finds purpose in faith, labour, and the quiet rhythms of Eden Manor, Lucinda dreams of glittering ballrooms, fashionable gowns, and the perfect titled gentleman who will sweep her into London society.

Instead, she finds a pirate.

Jackson Cavendish arrives at Eden Manor carrying scandal, secrets, and a restless past he cannot outrun. Sent to the countryside by his powerful father to escape the whispers of London, Jackson expects boredom and judgment — not a fiery red-haired young woman who challenges him at every turn and makes him question the life he thought he wanted.

As summer fades into harvest, friendship deepens into longing, and the peaceful world of Eden Manor begins to tremble for them both. When the manor finally calls Lucinda away from the countryside and into the dazzling world she has always imagined, she must decide whether the life she dreamed of can ever compare to the love she found beneath the orchards of Eden Manor.

In a society built on titles, expectations, and appearances, love may demand the most dangerous thing of all — a choice made freely.

A Lady at Eden Manor

Currently being written

Philipa Cavendish has spent her life surrounded by the glittering elegance of London society, yet she has always longed for something more than crowded ballrooms and carefully practiced smiles. When her brother's wedding brings her to Eden Manor for the summer, she expects little more than a charming countryside visit before returning to London for the season.

Instead, she finds herself falling in love with Eden Manor itself.

With its rolling orchards, lively dinners, bustling village, and loud, affectionate Middleton family, the estate awakens something inside her she never knew was missing. And at the heart of it all are the Middleton brothers.

George Middleton, the future Earl of Abernathy, is steady, honorable, and quietly burdened by a love he cannot seem to claim for himself. Henry Middleton is thoughtful and ambitious, his passion for architecture hidden beneath a calm, serious exterior. And William Middleton -- fresh from years abroad studying art across Europe -- is charming, restless, and impossible to ignore.

As long summer days turn into candlelit evenings filled with laughter, sketchbooks, music, and whispered confessions, Philipa finds herself drawn deeper into the lives of the three brothers and the family that already feels dangerously like home.

But London still waits for them all.

And when summer ends, Philipa must decide whether her future belongs to the glittering world she has always known... or to the place -- and perhaps the man -- that has quietly claimed her heart.

A sweeping Regency romance filled with family rivalries, longing, wit, art, heartbreak, and the intoxicating possibility of finding where you truly belong.
